The number one rule about blogging is that you have to be consistent, which sucks because I'm really inconsistent. Like, I should probably wait a few days to publish this. I should be thoughtful about keywords (Midwest Wedding Photographer) and I should be strategic about the time of day I post it. But I am driven more by inspiration and impulsivity, which sounds like a brag but I just mean I have to do things when the urge strikes or else I won't do it. And I've been wanting to write something about Emmalee & Ryan's day since it happened. Best we do this now.

My husband and I coached college speech at Minnesota State University, Mankato for three years. That's where we met Emmalee, who was on the team all three years we were there, and that's where we met Ryan, who left the team shortly after we started. I won't bore everyone with the half-remembered details of 2014, but I will say Emmalee and I know each other very well. Maybe not the particulars of our every day life, but as people. And I'm sure she already knows, she is one of our forever people. Exhibit A: these photos on my camera roll.

I don't have a bunch of photos with Ryan and I don't know him as well as I know Emmalee. In truth, when he and Emmalee started dating I was very skeptical and protective of Emmalee (sorry Ryan, sorry Emmalee). But then, as the years went by, Emmalee was always happy. I don't mean she didn't face challenges or struggle like all of us, but underneath it all, she was happy. And, increasingly, confident. And on her wedding day, she was the most happy and confident I've ever seen her. And now, I know Ryan a lot better. And he's one of my forever people, too, even if he didn't enjoy "The OA", which-- you know what, nevermind.

On that note, here's a series of photos from a couple years ago, where Ryan pretends to be a boxer and then slips and falls because we're standing on a frozen lake. They make me laugh every time I look at them.

but anyway. back to business.

Here are a collection of photos from Emmalee and Ryan's wedding day. I am totally oversharing here, but I love the whole gallery so much I can't help it.

The wedding day

Emmalee and Ryan's wedding day was perfect. Everything went about how it should, and even when it didn't, everyone was so good about laughing it off. The venue, CreeksBend Golf Course, was like something out of a fairytale, with big tall windows overlooking the incredible green grass of the golf course and bright blue skies. A lovely ceremony spot just outside the reception hall.
